Tonghou Creek: A Natural Paradise for Birdlife and Hikers

This area boasts a rich and intact natural environment, attracting dozens of species of birds to inhabit. Along the way, you can experience rapids, large bays, deep valleys, waterfalls, and other natural landscapes. The endpoint is the Tonghou Yue Ling Ancient Trail, which is 17 kilometers long and leads to Jiaoxi in Yilan County, a historic path used by the Thao people during their migrations. The unique natural environment here was also chosen as a filming location for the movie ‘Seediq Bale’. The area is open 24/7 (please apply for a mountain entry permit at the Wuyu checkpoint before visiting). Important tips: Vehicles entering the mountain must apply for a mountain permit online in advance. Forestry Bureau Tonghou Forest Road control measures: From January to April and November to December, control is implemented every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. From May 1st to October 31st, control is implemented daily. The daily limit for cars and motorcycles entering is 100 each. Please apply through the Forestry Bureau’s online system. The Forestry Bureau has a control station at the entrance of the Tonghou Forest Road. If you do not have prior approval and the daily vehicle control limit has been exceeded, you will not be able to enter the Tonghou Forest Road. Please apply in advance to avoid affecting your trip.
