Tushanwan Museum

The Tushanwan Museum is located on the former site of the Tushanwan Orphanage and was opened to the public on June 12, 2010, during the Shanghai World Expo in China. It is the only remaining north building of the original Tushanwan Orphanage, a three-story brick and wood structure, built during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. Due to the orphanage’s emphasis on the training of arts and crafts, it is also known as the Orphanage of Arts and Crafts. The museum’s exhibition area is over 900 square meters, divided into four major units: the Memorial Arch Hall, the Xujiahui Hall, the Tushanwan Hall, and the Heritage and Influence Hall. It displays nearly four hundred exhibits, including more than two hundred historical photos, with artifacts, photos, models, and historical documents as the main content, supplemented by multimedia and other auxiliary means to restore the daily scenes of the Tushanwan Orphanage of Arts and Crafts. Open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 16:00; closed all day on Mondays; open on New Year’s Eve from 09:00 to 15:00; open on Spring Festival from 09:00 to 16:30.
