Wanglong Pi, formerly known as ‘Ruan Pi’, is located in Zhenshan Village, Yuanshan Township, Yilan, and was formed hundreds of years ago due to a mountain flood, creating a lake covering an area of about four to five hectares
The surrounding mountains are not tall, and the catchment area is not extensive, so the pond is prone to drying up during periods of low rainfall, and overflowing during heavy rains
The lake’s water level is unpredictable, and its water retention capacity is weak
In the 20th century, the lake’s embankment was constructed, a lakeside trail and pavilions were built, trees were planted along the lakeshore to beautify the environment; artificial islands were added to the lake, and elegant arched bridges and winding bridges were built to connect the lakeshore
Water sources were introduced, and fish were stocked, revitalizing Wanglong Pi and restoring its scenic beauty of lake and mountains, making it an emerging tourist and leisure spot
