The Wozhou Lake scenic area is composed of Wozhou Lake, Wozhou Mountain, Tianmu Mountain, Dongshan Mountain, and scenic spots such as Xishan Yibi and Thirty-Six Ferries. It is known for its beautiful scenery and profound cultural connotations. Bai Juyi praised: ‘Among the landscapes in the southeast, Yue (region) is the foremost. Shan (place) is like the face, and Wozhou and Tianmu are like the eyebrows and eyes.’ The natural landscapes of Wozhou Lake and Wozhou Mountain are extremely rich. Along the lake, one can see the dam scenery, Shinv Peak, Ebi Peak, Incense Burner Peak, Zhidun Ridge, Zhenjun Temple, and the place where Master Zhizhe released snails. There is also an island in the lake named ‘Dayuejiao’. Abandoning the boat and boarding the island, standing on the ‘Shuangyuan Pavilion’ and looking out, the lake and mountains present a magnificent panorama.

Wozhou Mountain has profound cultural heritage. Here is one of the fifteen blessed lands of Taoism, one of the centers of Prajna learning in Jiangnan, a gathering place of aristocratic culture, and also the birthplace of ancient landscape poetry. Eighteen eminent monks such as Zhidaolin and Zhudaoqian, and eighteen celebrities such as Sun Chuo and Wang Xizhi once stayed here for a long time.
