Xiaolong Qiu

Located in the Lingyan Scenic Area, also known as the Small Waterfall, it is situated at the base of the hidden dragon cliff behind the Lingyan Temple, and is one of the main scenic spots of Lingyan. Surrounded by cliffs, the rock belly resembles the colors of coral and agate. The waterfall cascades from the cliff, touching the rocks and soaring into the air like a mist gathering and swirling; as it flows and splashes, water droplets scatter onto people. The waterfall strikes the pool, creating a myriad of forms and colors due to the play of light. A predecessor once praised it with the words, ‘I come to see but can never have enough, long howl alone leaning on the railing.’

The pool water flows out among the scattered rocks, converging into the Wolong Stream, which then meanders southward into the Bixiu Stream. There is a rare small animal with a black back and a red belly called the spider salamander in the stream, which is quite endearing. On the left mountain of Xiaolong Qiu, there is a scene of monkeys holding a peach; in the Wolong Stream, there are ducks playing in the water, and other scenic spots worth seeing. In addition, in front of the Xiaolong Qiu pool, there is a large rectangular rock that looks like an inkstone, and next to the inkstone, there is a flat, oblong small stone strip, resembling a piece of pine smoke ink.

The area is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
