The Xichan Temple is located three miles south of Xiting Town, Tongzhou District, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. The ancient Xichan Temple built during the Xiantong period of the Tang Dynasty. In 1958, the front hall and main hall were demolished, and the wood and other materials were used to build the Xiting Cinema. For the Xichan Temple, only the back hall and wing rooms remain, which were rebuilt into Tingnan Primary School. In 2003, the temple was restored. Funded by the public, a new front hall was built, and the back hall still exists.
