Xitian Temple

Xitian Temple is located at No. 75, Yixing Street, Longhua District, Haikou City. The temple covers an area of 1,193 square meters. The original building area is more than 900 square meters. There are three entrances to the main room. There is a patio between the first entrance and the second entrance. Between the second entrance and the third entrance is the worship pavilion. On both sides of the worship pavilion are the east and west side corridors. The entire temple is a brick-wood structure with T-shaped brackets (single-type brackets). There is a stone-carved convex plaque with the words ‘Xitian Temple’ on the front gate. It is the handwriting of Zhang Yuesong, a famous calligrapher and top scorer in the imperial examination from Hainan in the Qing Dynasty. Inside, the beams and pillars are painted and carved exquisitely. On the brackets and walls, there are complete sets of wood carvings and story paintings. The story characters are vivid. It is a rare ancient building preserved in Hainan Province so far.
