Xuan Guang Temple, located approximately 2
5 kilometers away from Sun Moon Lake, was originally built in 1955 as a temporary resting place for the relics of Master Xuanzang, which were retrieved from Japan
In 1965, after the completion of Xuanzang Temple, the relics were permanently moved there
The temple is situated at the land boundary between Sun Lake and Moon Lake, featuring a Tang Dynasty-style architecture
Inside, it houses a golden statue of Master Xuanzang, with a plaque inscribed with ‘National Family Teacher’ hanging above
The temple is backed by mountains and overlooks the lake, being only a few meters away from the water’s edge
A dock is located beneath the temple, allowing visitors to take a boat to the dock and then ascend the stairs to visit
The temple is open all year round from 05:00 to 21:00, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status
