Xuntang Ancient Town

Xuntang Ancient Town was built in 1913 in Xuntang Village, Huazhuang Town, Binhu District. At that time, Qian Fengshu, the administrative director of Xin’an Township, initiated the construction to facilitate local villagers’ shopping. It was planned along the river. All industries were prosperous and shops were lined up. As the town is located by the Xuntang River and is surrounded by water on three sides, it is named ‘Xuntang Town’. It was one of the important historical towns in Wuxi at that time. It is a major transportation route connecting Huazhuang, Xuelang, Dafu, and Nanfangquan. It became an important place for trade and gathering of people in southern Wuxi. Although it has gone through wars, the old street system is still well preserved. It is also a center for purchasing and processing silkworm cocoons. The specific business hours and opening status are subject to the opening situation on that day.
