Yongjiang, the mother river of Ningbo, is formed by the convergence of the Fenghua River and the Yao River. It is one of the seven major water systems in Zhejiang Province, located near the Hangzhou Bay at the estuary of Yongjiang.

One can often spot traces of snails, crabs, and tidal flat fish in the river. The main type of snail is the white striated snail. The main plant is reed.
