Yugang Bao’s Former Residence is located in Dongqifang, Zhongbao Village, Zhuangshi Street, Zhenhai District, Ningbo, and was built during the Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 1026 square meters, it faces south with a northward orientation and is composed of the main house, front left and right side rooms, and rear left and right side rooms, all of which are hard mountain top brick-wood structures.

The main house: It has a width of five bays and two alleys on two floors, with a depth of eight columns and eight rafters, and a front porch;
Front left and right side rooms: Each has a width of two bays on a single floor, with a depth of five columns and five rafters, and a front porch;
Rear left and right side rooms: Each has a width of a single bay on a single floor, with a depth of five columns and six rafters.
Yugang Bao (1918-1991), a native of Zhongbao Village, Zhuangshi, attended Ye’s Zhongxing School in Zhuangshi during his youth. After 1932, he successively went to Ningbo, Kunming, and other places to learn business, and later went to Shanghai. In 1940, he joined the Central Trust Bureau’s Hengyang office, and was successively promoted to manager of Hengyang Industrial and Mining Bank and manager of Chongqing Industrial and Mining Bank. In 1948, he co-founded a Chinese firm with several friends. In 1955, he switched to the shipping industry, and by the end of the year, he owned seven cargo ships. In 1970, he established the Global Shipping Group Co., Ltd. and served as the chairman of the board. In 1975, he was honored with the title of ‘King of the World’s Shipping’. By 1978, his shipping group owned more than 170 large and giant ships, with a total tonnage of 21 million tons, leading the world’s shipping industry. At the same time, he took the lead in donating to the mainland and also mobilized ‘Ningbo Gang’ people to actively donate for the construction of the mainland. Yugang Bao, as the King of Shipping, is also patriotic and loves his hometown, which has high research value for celebrities.
