Yunnan South Road Food Street is located in Huangpu District, at the heart of Shanghai City. It starts from Jinling East Road in the south and extends to Yan’an East Road in the north, with a total length of 250 meters. The food street was established in September 1991 during the preparation of the first Huangpu Tourism Festival and was originally named ‘Daxiashi Food Street’. In 1992, it was renamed to ‘Shanghai Food Street’, and in September 1998, it was once again renamed to ‘Yunnan South Road Food Street’. In September 1999, during the first municipal-level commercial characteristic street selection in Shanghai, Yunnan South Road Food Street was designated as one of the first batch of Shanghai commercial professional characteristic streets. Yunnan South Road Food Street is renowned for its saying ‘Step into Yunnan Road, a feast for the palate, a feast for the palate, countless saliva flows’.
