Zeya Scenic Area, known as the ‘West Yandang’ of Wenzhou, is located in the western part of Ouhai District. It starts from Longjing Temple in the south to Lingyun Temple at Lingyun Mountain in the north; from Mazhi Chuan Baizhang Waterfall in the east to Biqi Waterfall at Qiyun Mountain in the west, covering a total area of 130 square kilometers. The area boasts eight main scenic spots including Zeya Lake, Paper Mountain, Wu Feng, Qiyun, Xishan, Qibuji, Jin Kuan Gorge, and Gaoshan Jiao, with over 200 scenic spots throughout the region. It is named for its vast and diverse landscapes. Zeya Scenic Area is famous for its majestic and lush mountains, and beautiful waterscapes. Within its borders, there are verdant peaks, hanging cliffs, canyons, waterfalls, and pebble beaches; primitive water wheels, ancient water pounding mills, simple customs, and charming local culture; dense forests and green bamboos, like waves of the sea, surrounded by clouds and mist, with floating rosy clouds, resembling an endless elegant ink wash painting: the green mountains meander with mist, the silver streams wind like ribbons; the towering peaks with imposing momentum, the waterfalls pouring into the green pools, the villages nestled among the mountains, the clear streams winding around the green hills, mountains and waters, rocks and stones; lush greenery, clear and beautiful, the mountain light and water color complement each other, with endless natural and primitive charm.
The scenic resources of Zeya Scenic Area are characterized by elegant waters, strange peaks, secluded valleys, clouds, peculiar caves, rich forests, pleasant climate, simple customs, and ancient historical sites that add luster. Notable attractions include the graceful Yuankou Bridge in Zhou’ao Township, the ancient Yongning Overwater Bridge, the ‘Fairy Pool’; Longjing, Longjing Temple, and Longting in Xi’an Township; the scenery of Paper Mountain; Mao’er Island, Longkong Stone Bridge, Qiyun Spring, Qichongyan Ancient Camphor, the ‘Number One in the World’, Guanyin Pavilion, Jizhao Zen Temple, Nandou Silver Pond, Banling Waterfall in Zeya Town; Baizhang Waterfall (150 meters high) and Xishan Four Waterfalls in Mazhichuan; Shi Zhong, Guan Jian Men, and Shi Gongqiao in Jin Kuan Gorge; Shenluo Waterfall, Crocodile Pond, Frog Waterfall, Hero Slope, Tongyou Gorge, Suspended Bamboo Planking Path, Gan Yan Tiao Lang, Cuiping Gorge, Longhu Pond, Jiulong Pond, Sanlian Pond, Tongtian Cave, Swinging Rock, Eagle Perch Peak, Immortal Footprint, Wukong Welcoming Guests, and Tianchuang Waterfall in Qibuji; Qiqi Tree, primitive swamp, Qiyun Holy Land, and Huangshan Tea Forest in Beilinyao; and ancient city walls, Lingyun Ancient Temple, and high-altitude vegetables in Wufengyao, all of which are excellent places to visit. The area is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00.
